Icy Autumn Morning at The Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge
It was a cold morning at the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge this morning and there was a thin layer of ice on the water.
One of my favorite places, The Great Swamp is located in Morris County, NJ and was established in 1960. More than 244 species of birds use the Great Swamp as a migration-resting and feeding area or as a permanent habitat. Many birds migrating along the eastern United States follow the corridor that includes the Great Swamp. The bird blinds are a good place to watch the birds. I tend to be more into the plant life, myself. This image was taken along one of the boardwalk paths. Nikon D800E, 16mm fisheye lens, f/11, 1/640 sec, ISO 400.
