This is about an hour hike into the Bisti. There ia a lot of variation in the rocks here and petrified wood is common. Even at 9 AM, the sun is relentless. The temperature was not really hot, but you have to drink a lot of water in the desert to avoid dehydration. We were fortunate to have two geologists on the trip who could explain this odd terrain.
